  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup pepitas (shelled pumpkin seeds)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced 1/4-inch thick
  • 1 dried ancho chile, stemmed, seeded and torn in small strips
  • 1 apple, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, preferably Mexican canela
