- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

These are my husbands favorites and one my mom still makes often
- Boil uncovered until water is absorbed
- 1 1/2 c. raisins
- 1 1/2 c. water
- Set aside to cool.
- Cream 1 c. margarine (or 1 cube butter and 1/2 c. shortening)
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- Beat in 3 eggs
- Blend in raisins
- Add: 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
