- 1/2 teaspoon ground star anise (grind in a clean coffee grinder) or ground allspice
- 1 cup canola oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup coconut palm sugar* or packed dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1/3 cup chopped crystallized ginger
- 2 3/4 cups coarsely shredded butternut squash
- FROSTING:
- 3/4 cup salted butter, softened
- 12 ounces (1 1/2 large pkgs.) cream cheese, softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon bourbon
- 2 teaspoons ground cardamom
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

- 1 sugar pie pumpkin
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
