- 1 1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F)
- 1/2 cup + 1 teaspoon white sugar, divided
- 4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 4 1/2 cups all purpose flour, divided
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon table salt
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 4 cups hot water
- 4 tablespoon butter, melted
- salt (large flakes better)
BLD Burgers

Preparation Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
- 8 slices meaty bacon
- 1 stick butter, at room temperature
- 1 large shallot, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup (a small handful) cilantro or parsley tops, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons chives, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, grated
- Salt
- 4 sandwich-size English muffins (I like Thomas'.)
- 1 pound ground 80-percent-lean sirloin
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Black pepper
- 1/2 pound bulk spicy pork breakfast sausage
- 4 slices sharp white cheddar (I like Oscar's XXX, oscarsadksmokehouse.com.) or sharp white American cheese (I like Cooper.)
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 3 tablespoons chipotle hot sauce, such as chipotle Tabasco
- 4 eggs

Instructions In a large pot, brown onion, garlic, pork and beef
- 1 large onion , diced
- 3 cloves garlic , minced
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 lb lean ground pork
- 3/4 cup uncooked long grain rice
- 1 medium head cabbage , chopped (core removed)
- 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 1/2 cups V8 or other vegetable juice
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 bay leaf
- salt and pepper , to taste
