10-Minute Beef Teriyaki Skillet

In a large skillet preheat 1 teaspoon sesame oil over medium-high heat for about 1 minute
- 1 lb. extra lean ground beef (I used 96% lean)
- 1 cup finely diced onion*
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger (or about 1/4 teaspoon dried ground ginger)
- 3/4 cup thick teriyaki sauce (such as Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce)
- Optional Garnish: sliced green onion, toasted sesame seeds
- For Serving: rice, tortillas, or lettuce wraps

1. FOR THE STEAK: Cut steak with grain into 2 to 3 even pieces
- 2 pounds sirloin steak tips (flap meat), trimmed of excess fat
- ⅓ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup mirin
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, plus extra for cooking grate
- 3 medium garlic cloves, minced or pressed through garlic press (about 1 tablespoon)
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon finely grated orange zest
- 2 medium scallions, white parts minced and green parts sliced thin on bias, separated
- Sauce
- ⅓ cup soy sauce
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup sake
- ½ cup mirin
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
