  • Glaze:
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 sticks butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 Tablespoon grated lemon peel
  • 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2/3 cup sugar

Step 1

1. Place oven rack one third up from the bottom. Heat oven to 350F. Grease a bundt pan. Flour bundt.

2. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in medium bowl.

3. In a large bowl with mixer on medium speed, beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each and scraping down sides of bowl as necessary. On low speed, add flour mixture in 3 additions alternately with the milk in 2 additions, beating until well blended after each addition. Stir in lemon peel.

4. Scrape batter into prepared pan. Level batter by rotating pan briskly.

5. Bake 1 hour and 5-10 minutes until a knife inserted at center comes out clean. Cool cake in pan 5 minutes then invert.

6. Glaze: Mix lemon juice and sugar. Brush all over hot cake.
