Beef and vegetable pasties

- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small brown onion, finely chopped
- 400 g lean beef mince
- 1 medium desiree potato, peeled, cut into 1cm cubes
- 1 small carrot, peeled, cut into 1cm cubes
- 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
- 1/2 cup barbecue relish
- 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup Campbell's Real Stock Beef Salt Reduced
- 1/2 cup frozen pea and corn mix
- 4 sheets ready-rolled shortcrust pastry, partially thawed
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
- tomato sauce, to serve
Turkey Sausage, Sweet Potato & Sage Hand Pies (Pasties)

I developed this recipe to be my American version of Cornish Pasties
- CRUST:
- 3 3 3 cups all purpose flour, plus extra for rolling the dough
- 4 4 4 ounces shortening or lard
- 4 4 4 ounces (1-stick) unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- Pinch Pinch of salt
- 3/4 3/4 3/4 cup ice water
- FILLING:
- 1 1 bag 1 (9-ounces) bag Jimmy Dean fully-cooked turkey sausage crumbles
- 1 1 1-cup) small white or yellow onion, finely minced (about 1-cup)
- 1 1 1 cup diced sweet potato, cut into even small pieces
- 2 2 2 tablespoons fresh sage***, finely chopped
- 2 2 2 teaspoons fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- 2 2 2 teaspoons coarse salt
- 1 1 1 teaspoon coarse black pepper
- 2 2 2 teaspoons pure olive oil
- 1 1 1 cup dried cranberries, divided
- 1 1 1 egg & water (for the egg wash)
- to can skip making the dough, and buy a refrigerate pie crust dough. However, I think this dough recipe is very easy to make and taste a whole lot better!
- to 1 be substituted for sage, but reduce to 1 Tablespoon
Ground Beef Pasties

1. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion for 5 minutes
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 5-6 medium-sized red potatoes, cubed
- 2 c. diced veggies (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 t. garlic powder
- 1 t. Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Homemade pie crust or store-bought (enough for 3 -4 crusts)
- 1 egg yolk, beaten
- 1/4 T. butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. flour
- 2 c. beef stock, broth or bullion cubes
- 2 t. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 t. Italian seasoning

- Use your favorite pie dough or one 15-ounce box Pillsbury Just Unroll! pie crusts.
- Ingredients2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 onion, chopped fine
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 2 cups leftover meat and vegetables from Joe Booker Stew, plus 1 cup leftover broth
- Salt and pepper
- 2 (9-inch) pie dough rounds (see note)
