- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
- 5 slices American cheese
- 1/2 cup diced pickles

- SAUCE:
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 garlic clove, pressed
