Laurel's Apple Crisp

Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • granny smith apples
  • macintosh apples (the rest can be any kind)
  • making 6 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 Tbs water
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 c. rolled oats
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c.butter, softened

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375. Place the sliced apples in an ungreased 2 qt. casserole or 8 inch square baking dish. Sprinkle with the cinnamon, water and lemon juice.

Combine topping ingredients. Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle the crumb mixture evenly oover the apple mixture.

Bake for 25-35 minutes or ntil the apples are tender and te topping is golden brown.

Remove from oven and serve warm with cream, ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.

Note: I doubled the recipe and put it in a 9X12 pan, using only a cup of brown sugar. Bake for 40 minutes.

For softer apples, pre-cook the apples in microwave for a few minutes.
