Grandma Mary's Self Crust Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 5-6 medium McIntosh or Granny Smith Apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tsp sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon, combined
  • 1 stick unsalted butter,softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts, optional

Preparation

Step 1

1.Grease and lightly sprinnkle brown sugar in a 9 inch glass pie plate. Layer sliced apples in pie plate
2.Cream butter and sugar in a electric mix master. Add the egg and mix until combined. Add flour. Dough will be thick like a cookie dough
3. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon mixture over apples
4.Press the dough over the apples-cover as much as possible over apples with fingers
5. Sprinkle more cinnamon sugar and walnuts if using over dough.
6. Bake at 350 for about 40 -45 minutes until golden
