Ingredients

  • Date Filling:
  • 1 cup shortening (part butter)
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups Robin Hood oats
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ pound dates
  • 2/3 cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Add water and sugar to dates cook together until thick, stir well add lemon juice cool before using.

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening gradually add sugar and cream together until light add milk and oats. Mix flour baking powder.
Stir thoroughly add to first mixture, dough should be very soft (chill)
Roll dough 1/8” thick on floured board cut will round cutter place on well greased baking sheet.

Bake 350 for 12-15 mins
