Ingredients

  • 8 oz. whole fresh mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • cooking oil

Preparation

Step 1


a large bag, mix the flour, mustard, paprika pepper and salt. Place buttermilk into a bowl and dip a few mushrooms at a time. Place the mushrooms in the bag with the mixture. Shake the bag to coat the mushrooms. Heat 2 to 3 inches of oil in a deep fryer or saucepan to 375 degrees. Fry several mushrooms at a time until they turn golden brown on all sides.
