Ingredients

  • 1 package yellow cake mix plus pudding
  • 1/3 cup soft margarine or butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple fruit pie filling
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup dairy sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Step 1

Heat oven to 350deg. In large bowl combine cake mix, margarine and 1 egg at low speed until crumbly. Press in ungreased 13 x 9-inch pan; spread with pie filling. Combine brown sugar, nuts and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. In small bowl, blend sour cream, egg and vanilla. Pour over sugar mixture. Bake at 350deg for 40 to 50 minutes or until golden. Serve warm or cool. Refrigerate any leftovers.

NOTE: To use fresh apples instead of pie filling, combine 1/4 cup brown sugar and 2 tablespoons cornstarch. Pour in 1 cup water and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Add 4 cups evenly sliced, peeled apples. Heat to boiling and simmer 5 minutes.
