Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Preparation

Step 1

Cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy; add egg and beat well. Combine 1 1/2 cups flour, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture, mixing well.

Combine apples with 2 tablespoons flour; stir into batter. Pour batter into a greased 10 x 6 x 2 inch baking dish. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans; sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350deg for 40 minutes. Yield: 8 servings.
