This is my great grandmother's recipe.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup Karo sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 package cut up dates
  • 2 Tbs butter
  • 1/2 to 1/3 cup chopped pecans

Preparation

Step 1

Stir sugar, Karo syrup & milk well, cook until soft boil (this happens very quickly)
Add the dates, butter & cook until soft ball form when dropped in water (again happens quickly)
Add pecans & beat until feels right (informative, huh?)
roll in wet cloth and refrigerate until ready to slice
(don’t leave it more than 30 minutes without checking to see if candy is ready to slice
