Ingredients
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 cup butter (room temperature)
- 3 to 4 cooking apples
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs (room temperature)
- 1 to 3 tbsp milk
- 1 to 3 tbsp granulated sugar (for topping)

Preparation
Step 1
1.Preheat over to 375 F
2.Grease an 8-inch spring form pan
3.Cut wax paper to fit and line the bottom of the pan
4.Sift flour, salt and ground cloves into a large bowl
5.Cut in the butter until the mixture has the consistency of fine crumbs
6.Peel, core and slice the apples
7.Add the apples and sugar to the flour mixture
8.Stir in the eggs and enough milk to leave the dough stiff
9.Turn the dough into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with the remaining sugar.
10.Bake 45 minutes until crisp and golden in color
