Cauliflower and Peas a la Margo

Ingredients

  • 1 med. cauliflower (about 1 lb.)
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 1/4 tsp. black mustard seeds and cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne
  • 1/4 tsp. coriander powder.
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice

Preparation

Step 1

Separate the cauliflower into flowerets. wash and drain.
Heat oil in skillet over moderate flame. Add oil and mustard seeds and cumin.
When all the mustard seeds have stopped popping and cumin seeds turn brown, add cauliflower, turmeric,and salt.
Sauté 5 min. Reduce heat to low and cook covered 5 min. more.
Uncover and add shelled peas and rest of spices. Mix well. Add water, cover, and cook 10 more min.
When all is cooked satisfactorily, squeeze lemon juice on, mix and serve.
