How to Cook Tenderloin Steak on the Stove

Tenderloin steak, also known as filet or filet mignon, cooks up quickly and easily on the stove
- Ten derloin steaks, 3/4 to 1 1/2 inches thick; one 4-oz. to 5-oz. steak per diner
- Salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
- Olive oil
- Skillet
- Tongs
- Plate
- Aluminum foil
- 1 tbsp. of butter
Pesto Grilled Shrimp

This delicious shrimp dish was amazing! The pesto is very very light and the whole flavor of the shrimp bursts out
- 1/2 cup basil, packed
- 1 small clove garlic
- 1 tablespoon pine nuts, toasted
- 2 tablespoons parmigiano-reggiano (parmesan), grated
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (~1/2 lemon)
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deviened
- 1 tsp minced parsley
Bacon-Wrapped Dove

My all time favorite way to grill dove is to wrap them up in bacon before I put them on the pit
- 1 . About 10 dove breasts. (Carve them off of the breast bone as you would a chicken)
- 2 . 1 Bottle of Italian Salad dressing.
- 3 . 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
- 4 . 1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
- 5 . 1 Tablespoon of cajun seasoning
- 6 . 1 Tablespoon of freshly cracked pepper
- 7 . 20 jalapeno slices
- 8 . 20 Tooth Picks
- 9 . 7 slices of bacon stretched and cut into thirds

- 1 3/4 lbs baking potatoes (such as Yukon gold)

Making and canning your own salsa is something families remember years later
- seasonings:
- to 7 7 your own seasonings. The Ball salsa mix sells for about $2.00 to $4.00 per packet. A packet will make about a 7 pint jars. See step 7 below for seasonings.
- 2 2 2 cups Lemon or lime juice juice (if you make your own seasoning) or vinegar (if you use the Ball or Mrs. Wages mixes)
- Equipment
- Pint Pint (or smaller) canning jars (Ball or Kerr jars can be found at Publix, Kroger, Safeway and local "big box" stores - about $8 per dozen jars including the lids and rings).
- Lids - thin, flat, round metal lids with a gum binder that seals them against the top of the jar. They may only be used once.
- to - metal bands that secure the lids to the jars. They may be reused many times.
- Jar Jar grabber (to pick up the hot jars)
- to lifter (has a magnet to pick the lids out of the boiling water where you sanitize them. ($2 at mall kitchen stores and local "big box" stores, but it's usually cheaper online from our affiliates)
- 1 1 1 large pot.

- Jar Jar funnel ($3-Grocery stores, like Publix, Kroger and Safeway and local "big box" stores; sometimes even hardware stores)
- 3 3 3 cups chopped onions
- 6 6 6 jalapeño peppers, seeded, finely chopped
- 4 4 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 2 cans 2 six-ounce cans tomato paste (adds body)
- 2 2 to 3. bottled lemon or lime juice or lemon juice (see this page for an explantion) (if you are using a mix, be sure to follow their recipe; the packet mixes often use vinegar instead of lemon juice). See this study comparing all 3.
- 1 1 1 tablespoon salt (optional)
- 1 1 1 tablespoon sugar (optional - you use Stevia (or if you prefer, Splenda) if you are on a sugar-restricted diet, or simply omit the sugar)
- 1 1 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1 1 tablespoon ground cumin (optional)
- 2 2 2 tablespoons oregano leaves or chopped cilantro (optional)

- 2 (12 ounce) sirloin or top loin steaks*

- 1/2 large yellow onion, chopped
