- 1 tbsp cold water

- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cups milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- 1 large jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
- 2 cups cheddar cheese (I used a combination of regular and sharp cheddar)

- 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg (optional; I skip this)
