Roasted Tomato and Black Bean Soup

Oven 375 Toss tomatoes with the oil, onion, and salt, & pepper Bake about 30--45 minutes Add mix to 4 qt saucepan
- 7 med tomatoes, quartered
- 1 large onion cut into large pieces (about 1 1/2 inch)
- 3 garlic cloves, peeled
- 2 tbs olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 5 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 (15.5 oz) cans black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/4 tsp tabasco
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 c chopped cilantro

- 12 baby carrots with tops, trimmed

Directions Preheat the broiler and position the oven rack 5 inches from the heat
- 1 1/2 pounds Italian Fontina Val d'Aosta cheese, rind removed and 1-inch-diced
- 1/4 cup good olive oil
- 6 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh thyme leaves
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh rosemary leaves
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Napa Cabbage Salad

- 1 Head Napa Cabbage
- 1 1/2 bunches green onions
- (slice and mix together)
- 2 pkgs Raman Noodles
- 2 oz Sesame seeds
- 4 oz sliced almonds
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup oil
- fresh ginger
- soy sauce to taste 4-6 TBS

I found this recipe in the paper in the early 70's! It had been submitted by a woman who worked in a school cafete...
- 1/2 lb butter
- 1 1/2 lb crunchy peanut butter
- 2 c packed brown sugar
- 2 c granulated sugar
- 1/4 c corn syrup
- 1/2 t vanilla
- 6 eggs
- 9 c oatmeal
- 4 t baking soda
- 1 t salt
- 1 lb M&M's (I sometimes use peanut butter M&M's)
- 1 lb chocolate chips (I use semi sweet)
- 1 c chopped nuts if desired.

- 1 pound sashimi-grade ahi tuna
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
- Salad:
- mixed prewashed baby salad greens
- 2 radishes, sliced
- 1/4 European cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced red bell pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped pickled ginger
- 1/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh cilantro leaves
- Dressing:
- 1/2 teaspoon wasabi paste
- 1-2 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons -virgin olive oil
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
