Ingredients

  • 4 cups thinly sliced Vidalia or sweet onion
  • 1 1/2 cups of apple cider or white vinegar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcesterhsire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seed
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salf
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dill weed

Preparation

Step 1

Halve onions and slice thin, about 1/4 inch thick. Place into bowl and cover with ice water;let rest 30 minutes. Drain and pack into quart Mason jar. Whisk the remaining ingredients together until sugar is completely dissolved. Top onions with the dressing and refrigerate at least 24 hours or 3 days if possible. Keep refrigerated up to 4 months.
