  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. cornmeal
  • 2 T. seasoned salt
  • 1/2 t. pepper
  • 1/4 t. red pepper
  • 4 medium onions
  • vegetable oil

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine eggs, and milk. In a shallow dish, combine flour, cornmeal, seasoned salt, pepper, and ground red pepper.
Pour oil to a depth of 3 inches in dutch oven; heat to 360 degrees.
Cut the onions in half lengthwise; cut each half into thin slices. Dip onion straws in egg mixture, allowing excess to drain. Coat in dry mixture. Fry in batches for about 4 minutes, or until golden. Drain on paper towels. Serve immediately
