EGG AND BACON CASSEROLE

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 4 cups unseasoned croutons (or 6 slices of bread)
  • 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 8 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 (12 ounce) package of bacon, cooked and crumbled

Step 1

Place butter in an 11 x 7 x 1 1/2 inch baking dish. Heat butter at 325deg for 5 minutes. Tilt pan to coat dish. Pour croutons over butter; sprinkle cheese over croutons and set aside.

Combine milk, eggs and mustard. Pour egg mixture over cheese. Sprinkle with bacon. Bake at 325deg for 40 to 50 minutes. Let casserole stand at room temperature 5 to 10 minutes before serving. Yield: 8 servings.
