Crispy Fried Onion Rings

  • 1 extra large Spanish onions cut in 3/8" slices
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Step 1

Separate onion slices into rings. Combine dry ingredients, beer, egg, and oil in blender. Process until smooth; pour into shallow pan. Using a fork, dip onion rings into batter, coating well on both sides. Deep fry in hot oil (375 degrees) until golden brown on both sides. Drain well on paper towels.
NOTE: These onion rings may be frozen in a single layer on baking sheets. When frozen, package rings as desired in foil. To reheat, place onion rings on baking sheels. Bake in pre-heated 400 degree oven for 7 minutes.
