Bread & Butter Pickles

Homemade bread and butter pickles are easy to make and so much better than store bought ones! This recipe gives you a reason to plant cucumbers in your garden and hope for a bumper crop!

Ingredients
- 3 pounds cucumbers, sliced very thin
- 3 cups onions, sliced very thin
- 2 green peppers, sliced very thin
- 1 red pepper, sliced very thin
- 1/2 cup pickling salt
- 4 cups sugar
- 4 cups vinegar
- 2 teaspoons turmeric
- 2 teaspoons mustard seed
- 1 teaspoon celery seed

Step 1
Combine cucumbers, onions, peppers, and pickling salt. Cover and let sit overnight.
Next morning drain well.
In large stock pot, combine sugar, vinegar, turmeric, mustard seed & celery seed. Bring to a boil.
Add drained vegetables and return to a full boil.
Pack in hot jars covering vegetables with hot juice.
Seal and process in hot water bath 15 minutes.
