Bombay Sloppy Joes

Make the sauce: Heat the vegetable oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat
- For the Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon minced peeled ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 serrano chile pepper, seeded and minced
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 15-ounce can tomato sauce
- For the Sloppy Joes:
- 3 to 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Small handful (about 1/4 cup) raisins
- Small handful (about 1/4 cup) shelled pistachios
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 large white onion, finely diced
- 1 red bell pepper, seeded and finely diced
- 1 serrano chile pepper (don't chop it unless you like things spicy!)
- Kosher salt
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 teaspoon honey
- 1/4 cup half-and-half
- Small handful fresh cilantro (soft stems included)
- 4 sesame buns
Sideline Salmon (Caribbean Jerk Salmon)

Add all of the sauce ingredients to bowl
- Caribbean Jerk Sauce:
- 1/2 cup roasted garlic olive oil
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/8 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 cloves freshly chopped garlic
- 1 jalapeno, chopped
- 1/2 cup diced sweet onion
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 2 tablespoons grated ginger
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 cup juice nectar (recommended: Four Seasons)
- 1 tablespoon chopped thyme leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground clove
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
- 1 mango, pitted and diced
- 1/2 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
- 1 fresh salmon fillet, skin-on, (2 to 3 pounds)
Oma's Chicken Paprikash

- Paprikash:
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, diced
- 4 heaping tablespoons sweet Hungarian paprika

- 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 large onion, coarsely chopped

- 1 dried bay leaf

- 24 littleneck clams, scrubbed well

- 2 ripe medium bananas

- 1/2 cup cold orange juice
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 12 ice cubes
- 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed (see Notes)
- Notes: Choose organic kale when possible. Nonorganic can have high pesticide residue.
- Look for ground flaxseeds (or flaxmeal) in the natural-foods section of large supermarkets or in natural-foods stores. Store in the refrigerator or freezer.

- 1 stick butter
