Cake: Heat oven to 350 degreees
- 1 box (15.25 oz.) spicer or devils food cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 can (16 oz.) vanilla or chocolate frosting
- Orange paste food coloring
- Honey wheat pretzel twists, Kit Kat bars or Twix bars for stems
- 1/3 cup corn syrup
- Assorted colored sugars or sprinkles
Chocolate Coconut Candy

In a large bowl, combine the confectioners' sugar, coconut, almonds and milk
- 1-3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1-3/4 cups flaked coconut
- 1 cup chopped almonds
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- Optional ingredients: flaked coconut, chopped almonds, sliced almonds and sprinkles
Brats and Beer Cheddar Chowder

In a large saucepan, heat the butter over medium heat
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped (1/2 cup)
- 1 medium carrot, coarsely shredded (1/2 cup)
- 3 large shallots, chopped
- 1 14 - ounce can vegetable broth or 1-3/4 cups vegetable stock
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk, half-and-half or light cream
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds, crushed
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 10 ounces Wisconsin Aged Cheddar cheese or sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 cooked smoked bratwurst, knockwurst or Polish sausage (about 12 ounces total), halved lengthwise and sliced
- 1 12 - ounce can beer or 12-ounce bottle ale
Italian Ssausage Stuffed Jalepenos

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and set a rack in the middle of the oven
- 15 jalapenos, preferably red, cut in 1/2, seeded and deveined
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 2 pounds mild Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1/4 cup minced red onion
- 1/4 cup minced red bell pepper
- 3 tablespoons minced garlic
- 2 cups mascarpone or cream cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan, plus more for garnish
- Salt and pepper
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Baked Boneless Pork Chops

Mix 1/4 cup flour, paprika, salt and pepper
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. paprika
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 lbs. boneless pork chops
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 minced sm. onion
- 1/2 c. minced green pepper
- 1 can (4 oz.) sliced mushrooms, drained
- 2 c. milk
- Juice of 1 lemon

- 1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 32 oz. marinara
- 1 lb. fresh mozzarella
- 2 tbsp. chiffonade basil, plus more for serving.
- pinch red pepper flakes
- kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 1 crusty baguette, sliced and toasted
Cindy's Chili

Chili I have made forever
- 2 T. salad oil
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced onions
- 2 T. diced green pepper
- 1/2 pound ground round
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 cup canned tomatoes
- 1 1/2 T. chili powder
- 2 T. cold water
- 1/4 t. salt
- 1 t. sugar
- 1 1/2 small cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups cooked or canned chili beans, undrained
Buttermilk Fried Chicken

Place the chicken in 2 cups buttermilk and soak from 1 to 12 hours
- 1 whole chicken, rinsed and cut into pieces
- 2 1/2 cups buttermilk, divided
- 6 eggs
- 6 T. salt, divided
- 2 T. freshly ground black pepper
- 3 cups unbleached flour
- 1 cup yellow mustard powder, such as Coleman's
- 2 t. ground cayenne
- lard or peanut oil

Preheat oven to 350. Arrange racks in upper and lower thirds of oven
- 2 cups butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
Pasta e Fagioli in a Slow Cooker

In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until beef is no longer pink and onion is tender; drain
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 carton (32 ounces) chicken broth
- 2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 can (15 ounces) cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
- 2 medium carrots, chopped
- 1-1/2 cups finely chopped cabbage
- 1 celery rib, chopped
- 2 tablespoons minced fresh basil or 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup ditalini or other small pasta
- Grated Parmesan cheese, optional
