Meat filled deep fried pastry
- 1 pkg yeast (traditional)
- 1/4 cup luke warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup scalded milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 egg
- 4 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- Hy's seasoning or Lawry's
- diced onion (very small)
Cranberry Orange Muffins

- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/4 cup white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- Zest of one orange
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 freshly squeezed orange juice (usually 2 naval oranges)
- 1 1/2 cup fresh cranberries (NOT dried)

In large fry pan, melt butter, cook onions till transparent
- 1 cup raw rice, cook as directed , rice can be undercooked (Uncle Bens)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 can diced tomatoes (2 1/2 c.)
- 3 tbsp chopped green pepper
- 4 whole cloves
- 2 small bay leaves

- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1/3 cup olive oil

- \6 medium beets, cooked and quartered

- 2 chicken thighs, diced
- 1/4 cup celery, chopped

- 1 tsp thai chiles
- 4 tbsp shiitake mushrooms, dried
- 1/4 cup water chestnuts, diced

Can make ahead of time or day before
- 4 c. chopped purple cabbage
- 3/4 c. chopped onion
- 2 peeled and chopped apples
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- Measure these ingredients into saucepan. Cover and cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain well.
- 1/4 c. cider vinegar
- 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. butter or margerine
- 1/4 tsp allspice
