  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. white vinegar
  • 3/4 c. salad oil
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. celery seeds

Step 1


1. Shred or chop 1 head cabbage. Place in a bowl with chopped onion in layers.
2. Sprinkle 1/3 cup sugar on top.

3. Prepare sauce by combining vinegar, oil, sugar, salt, dry mustard and celery seed. Heat until it comes to a boil.

4. Spoon hot sauce over cabbage, tossing to coat. Cover and refrigerate. This salad lasts for weeks without losing its fresh crispiness
