can melt butter and marshmellows over low heat, but using microwave is less messy

Ingredients

• 1/4 cup butter
• 1 (250 ml) pkg. marshmellows, about 40 large marshmellows or 5 cups miniature marshmellows
• 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
• 6 cups rice krispies cereal can use 5 cups of cereal for chewier bars.

Preparation

Step 1

butter a pan about 8x8x2 in size
microwave directions:
in a large microwaveable bowl, heat butter 30-60 seconds (high) until melted. add marshmellows, toss to coat. on high, heat 1-2 minutes or smooth when stirred....marshmellows will rise, make sure the bowl is really a large bowl. add vanilla and stir again, add cereal and stir to blend well. pour prepared pan. using a butter spatula or back of a large spoon press into the dish, can use clean hands to press in also.
let cool before cutting into squares.

stovetop directions;
in a large saucepan, melt butter and marshmellows over low heat until melted and well blened. remove from heat, follow rest of directions as above.
