Step 1
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook, covered, stirring occasionally, until tender, 6 to 8 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, combine the cumin, chili powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Add the steak and toss to coat.
Add the steak to the skillet with the onions, increase the heat to medium-high, and cook, tossing occasionally, until the steak is just cooked through, 3 to 4 minutes.
