Ingredients

  • 3 3 3 large Eggs
  • 1/2 1/2 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 1/4 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 1 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 1 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 1/2 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 6 6 6 slices cinnamon bread
  • Powdered sugar
  • Sides
  • sliced bananas or strawberries, bacon or sausage

Step 1

Mix all ingredients except bread & powdered sugar well in a square baking dish or deep pie pan until well blended.
Preheat oven to low heat - 175 (keep warm setting)
Pre-heat a large skillet over medium low heat, add 1 tablespoon butter and swirl to coat bottom of pan. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, turning to coat both sides well. Add to pan, I can get three slices in the pan I use. (Cover and cook 3 minutes, turn cover and cook three more minutes. transfer to a platter and keep warm in oven. Repeat with remaining bread.

Serve French toast, sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar (I uses a leftover spice jar with holes for a sprinkler or use a fork and tap to dust)
Serve with your favorite syrup or fruit - a side dish of sausage or bacon is a perfect accompaniment.
