Sugar Free Apple Cobbler

Ingredients
- Filling:
- 1 cup applesauce
- 3 tbsp butter or margarine
- 5 cups cooking apples, sliced
- 1/3 cup wheat germ
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp whole wheat flour
- Cobbler Crust:
- 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 3/4 cup unbleached flour
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup buttermilk

Step 1
Set oven to 400 F. Mix flour into applesauce. Mix, separately, all other filling ingredients. Add to applesauce mix. Place complete mix in baking dish or pan. Prepare cobbler crust and finish dish as directed.
Cobbler Crust: Sift all dry ingredients except for whole wheat flour. Add sifted ingredients to unsifted whole wheat flour. Cut in butter or margarine. Add buttermilk until you have soft dough, then add no more. Knead dough on lightly floured board, until smooth. Roll out evenly. Cut and place on top of apple mixture. Sprinkle crust with raisins or nuts. Bake at 400 F until golden brown, about half an hour.
