Snow Day Pretzels

By

My family loves these! When the kids were little and school was cancelled due to snow, I would mix up a batch of these pretzels for lunch. Each child would get a portion of dough to form various shapes to bake into pretzels. They remember those days fondly and still ask for these pretzels. They taste great with any type of soup.

  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 1 1/2 cup water (110-115 degrees)

Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in water. Add 1 t sugar and let rest for 5 minutes. Combine remaining dry ingredients. Add liquid to dry ingredients, either using a spoon or dough hook on mixer. Knead for 5 minutes. Pull off chunks of dough and shape anyway you wish. Place on parchment lined cookie sheet. Brush with a little water and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake at 475 for 9 minutes. I usually bake for a little longer at 400 degrees so they don't get too brown.
