Spaghetti Sauce

A meat based marinara that goes with any pasta.

Ingredients

  • 3 3 3 Tbs Olive Oil
  • 1 1 1 medium onion
  • 1/2 1/2 1/2 cup finely shredded carrots
  • 2 2 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 1 1 - can tomato sauce
  • 1 1 1 - can diced tomatoes
  • 1 6 1 6 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 2-1/2 2-1/2 2-1/2 cans water (tomato paste cans)
  • 1/2 1/2 1/2 C dry red wine
  • 1 1 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1 1 Tbs oregano
  • 1 1 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 1 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 2 2 Bay leaves
  • 1 1 1 package sliced pepperoni or turkey pepperoni (quartered)
  • 1 1 1-1/2 package meatballs (alternatively 1-1/2 pounds hamburger browned)

Preparation

Step 1

Brown onion (and hamburger if using) in a large skillet, drain and add to a large soup pot. Add remaining ingredients, heat to boiling stirring occasionally, reduce heat and simmer 2-1/2 hrs uncovered stirring occasionally. If it thickens too much, add some additional water.
