Grady's Chocolate Bar Cake

This was the signature dessert at Grady's Good Times Restaurant in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Ingredients

  • 8 (1.55-ounce) Hershey's candy bars
  • 2 (5 1/2-ounce) cans Hershey's syrup (or a total of 11 ounces)
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Melt candy bars and syrup together in top of a double boiler set over hot water. Cool. Beat together butter and sugar; add eggs, one at a time. Add cooled chocolate mixture. Separately mix soda and buttermilk until foamy. Add to chocolate and egg mixture, alternately with flour. Add vanilla. Pour into well-greased and floured Bundt pan. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. Cool on wire rack 10 to 15 minutes; remove from pan.
