Ingredients
- Cake:
- 1-1/4 cup boiling water
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1/2 cup softened margarine
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1-1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Frosting:
- 1/4 cup margarine, melted
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1/3 cup chopped nuts
- 3/4 cup coconut

Step 1
Cake:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease 9-inch square pan.
Pour boiling water over oatmeal; cover and let stand 20 minutes. Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add sugars and beat until fluffy. Blend in vanilla and eggs. Add oatmeal mixture; mix well.
Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add to creamed mixture. Mix well.
Pour batter into well-greased and floured 9-inch square pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes.
Frosting:
Combine melted margarine, brown sugar, milk, chopped nuts, and coconut. Spread on cake. Broil until bubby.
