- 3 cups flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 8 ounces unsalted butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup milk
- Frosting
- 12 ounces bittersweet chocolate finely chopped
- 12 ounces butter

Step 1
Preheat 350 oven. Spray two 9 inch round cake pans. Line with parchment and spray.
Sift flour, salt and baking powder twice. Combine butter, sugar in mixer with paddle, beat 4-5 minutes. Add eggs. Then vanilla. On low speed add milk and flour mixture in 3 additions. Bake for 30 min until touched with finger to spring back. Will pull away from sides..bake longer if necessary. Cool on racks for 2 hours before frosting.
Frosting . Melt chocolate in glass bowl 50 percent power 2-3 minutes . Cool to warm to touch. Mixer with paddle beat butter until fluffy. Add cooled chocolate. Ice cake , bottom side up. Top with second layer. Ice.
