Beef Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 3 chopped celery ribs
  • 1 8oz jar hoisin sauce
  • 3/4 c. low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 3 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 tbs fresh grated ginger
  • 2 tbs brown sugar
  • 1 tbs sesame oil
  • 5oz can bamboo shoots, drained, finely chopped
  • 8oz can water chestnuts, drained, finely chopped
  • 14oz can bean sprouts, drained
  • 14 c. fresh chopped cilantro
  • 12 crisp iceberg lettuce leaves

Preparation

Step 1

Brown the beef with onions. Drain. In crockpot combine beef and onion with celery, ½ c. hoisin sauce, soy sauce, water, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, sesame oil, bamboo and water chestnuts. Cover and cook on low for 5 hours. Before serving, mix in bean sprouts and cilantro. Serve by scooping a spoonful in the lettuce, drizzle with the leftover hoisin sauce.
