Ingredients
- 2 lb ground beef
- 1 chopped onion
- 3 chopped celery ribs
- 1 8oz jar hoisin sauce
- 3/4 c. low sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 c. water
- 3 minced garlic cloves
- 1 tbs fresh grated ginger
- 2 tbs brown sugar
- 1 tbs sesame oil
- 5oz can bamboo shoots, drained, finely chopped
- 8oz can water chestnuts, drained, finely chopped
- 14oz can bean sprouts, drained
- 14 c. fresh chopped cilantro
- 12 crisp iceberg lettuce leaves
Preparation
Step 1
Brown the beef with onions. Drain. In crockpot combine beef and onion with celery, ½ c. hoisin sauce, soy sauce, water, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, sesame oil, bamboo and water chestnuts. Cover and cook on low for 5 hours. Before serving, mix in bean sprouts and cilantro. Serve by scooping a spoonful in the lettuce, drizzle with the leftover hoisin sauce.
