Italian Chicken Braid (Jenna) 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • 2- 11 oz Pillsbury Crusty French Loaf bread (comes in tubes like Pillsbury biscuits, crescents, etc).
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup chopped chicken breast (I used that precooked Tyson kind that you can buy in the bag. It's already cut. It's the same kind of chicken I put in fajitas and Chicken Alfredo)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 can Garlic & Herb Hunts Pasta Sauce (by spaghetti sauces - comes in a can)
  • 1 can Hunt's Diced Tomatoes with Basil, Garlic, and Oregano
  • 6 1/2 tsp of minced garlic
  • Italian Seasoning

Preparation

Step 1

Directions:
1. Fry the chicken strips in a little bit of oil in a fry pan and season with Italian Seasoning.
2. Once it's warm, put it in a food chopper and chop up. Then place in bowl.
3. Add to the bowl the garlic, mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and Hunt's Diced tomatoes (drained well) and mix all together.
4. Open up both rolls of french bread, layout on a cookie sheet and cut down the middle and flatten (there's a seam on the dough and that's where you cut) - so you have two long loaves of bread flattened.
5. Spoon just enough Garlic & Herb Hunts Pasta Sauce to coat the dough on each of the bread loafs (save the rest and use with penne pasta as a side to eat with the chicken Parmesan bread).
6. Once you have the pasta sauce spread across the bread evenly, start adding in your mixture to each loaf - filling right down the middle of both with room on each side so you can still fold the sides up.
7. Once you have your mixture on, pull up the sides of each of the breads and pinch so they seal (at this point you'll have two filled bread snakes - I can't think of another word besides snake) :)
8. Cris/Cross them like a braid - only you'll just have two, not three (I attached a picture I found online just to show you what I mean). Once you have it braided, brush on a mixture of egg and oregano.
9. Put in oven at 375 for 40 minutes. - make sure dough is done. If it's not, but in another 5-10 minutes.

Serve with Penne Pasta and the rest of the Garlic & Herb Hunts Pasta Sauce. YUMMY! :)
