Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground chuck
- 1 (28 oz) cans baked beans or pork and beans
- 1 (16 oz) jar salsa
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 T brown sugar
- 1 shot (3 T) Jack Daniel's whiskey
- 1 shot (3 T) Coca-Cola
- 3 T ketchup, or to taste
- 5 T mustard, or to taste
- Tabasco to taste
- salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. In a skillet oer medium heat, brown the beef and drain. In a 2 1/2 qt. baking dish, combine the browned beef, canned beans, salsa, onion, brown sugar, whiskey and cola. Add the ketchup, mustard, Tabasco and salt and pepper to taste. Stir well, cover and bake for 2 hours, until the onions are translucent and the sauce is bubbly. Makes 10 servings.
Note: To turn this into a vegetarian dish, use vegetarian baked beans, eliminate the ground beef,f and stir in 12 oz. of meat substitute "crumbles" in the last 20 minutes of baking time.
