Tammy's BBQ Sauce

By

This a sauce I make once in awhile. The ingredients and amount I used are based on taste and size of my family. I am putting measured amounts, although again, it is by taste and consistency I and my family like. Leftover sauce can be refrigerated for a week, frozen or stored in the tall Mason Jars. If mild sauce is wanted, simply leave out pepper and hot sauce. For honey mustard, add 1/cup mustard.

Ingredients

  • 1 Bottle 64oz Heinz Ketchup
  • 1 cup honey ( more or less for taste and flavor)
  • 1 cup Dark Karo Syrup ( more or less for thickness and taste)
  • 2 Tbs Chili powder
  • 2 Tbs Hot Sauce
  • 1 small can Tomato Paste
  • 1/2 cup Vinegar

Preparation

Step 1

Combine all ingredients in large pot.Mix well.
Place on medium flame until a slow bubbly boil.
Turn flame on low and let simmer until consistency is desired. Stir constantly. This should be no longer than 30 minutes total.
The main thing is to let all ingredients mix together. If want a thicker sauce, add 1 more can of paste and another 1/2 cup dark karo syrup and keep on low flame, you may also have to add more of the ingredients to offset the taste. stirring until thickness is reached.
The sauce can also be made in a Slow Cooker , time varies with this method.
