Cheese Filled Yeast Cake With Streusel 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • DOUGH
  • 1 T dry yeast
  • 3/4 C sugar
  • 1 C warm water or milk
  • 1 egg
  • 4 1/2 C flour
  • 2/3 C butter
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 t vanilla extract
  • FILLING
  • 3 3/8 C farmer cheese
  • 1 1/8 C cream cheese
  • 1 1/2 C sugar
  • 1/2 C melted butter
  • 1 t vanilla extract
  • 3 egg Yolks
  • 3 T flour
  • STREUSEL
  • 1 C flour
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 1/2 C softened butter
  • ALSO
  • 1 beaten egg
  • Powdered sugar
  • NOTE
  • the cakes can be kept frozen for up to two months

Preparation

Step 1

FOR THE FILLJNG
Mix all filling ingredients in an bowl until smooth. Pour into 4 English cake molds or loaf pans and place in the freezer for two hrs
FOR THE DOUGH
place all the dough ingredients into a mixer bowl, Using the dough hook knead for about ten minutes until it becomes a soft dough. Place the dough in a warm location for two hours to allow to rise .
FOR THE STREUSEL
mix the flour,sugar and butter until crumbs are formed

Step 2

Preheat oven to 325 F
Divide the dough into four parts
Roll each portion of dough into an approximately 8”x12” rectangle(about three times the size of the loaf pan)
Remove the frozen filling and place one in the center of each rolled dough portion. Cover the filling by folding over the remaining dough on each side.
Place the wrapped fillings back into the loaf pans
Brush the cakes with the egg and generously sprinkle the streusel on top
Bake for about 40 min or until nicely browned
Sprinkle with powdered sugar

Use small to medium size loaf pans. Might need more baking time than 40 min.
