Ingredients

  • 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. Baking soda
  • 2 tsp. Ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. Ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. Ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter - room temp.
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup water

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

Combine flour, baking soda, spices, salt and cocoa. In a separate bowl beat the butter and sugar til creamy. Add molasses and beat til combined. Beat in dry ingredients. Add water til you get the right consistency for cookies. Stir in chips.

Step 3

Scoop and roll dough in a ball and place on prepared baking sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on baking sheet 5 minutes and then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
