Pecan Pie

This is a Southern recipe that has been around for many years. It uses cornmeal to thicken the filling.

Ingredients

  • 2 9 Inch Pie Shells
  • 1 Lb. Brown Sugar
  • 1 Stick of Butter
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. Corn Meal
  • 2 Tbsp. Water
  • 2 Tbsp. Vanilla
  • 1 Pinch of Salt
  • 2 C Pecans, Chopped
  • 1/2 C Pecan Halves

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake pie shells for 10 minutes. Remove and set aside to cool. Next, in a large bowl cream Butter and Sugar. Add Eggs, Corn Meal, Vanilla, Water and Salt and mix thoroughly. Pour into Pie Shells and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on rack. While it is cooling take remaining halves and place on top for decoration.
