  • 3/4 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup packed lt brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 2/3 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 14 oz semisweet chopped choc.
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • Powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Beat first 3 ingredients in large bowl until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and beat until blended. Mix flour, salt, ginger, cinnamon and baking soda into butter mixture. Beat until blended. Stir in chocolate and nuts. Refrigerate dough until firm about 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350. Line 2 heavy large baking sheets with parchement paper. Form dough into balls, using generous tablsp for each. Roll each ball in powdered sugar. Place on baking sheet spacing 2 inches apart. Bake until golden brown about 18 minutes. Transfer baking sheets to racks. Cool 5 minutes. Transfer cookies to racks and cool competely.
