Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb loaf brioche,challah or egg bread
  • 5 tbs unsalted butter
  • 1/2 + chocolate chips
  • 1 1/4 c half & half
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 T vanilla
  • dash salt
  • 1 tsp brown sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Can be assembled 1 day ahead and baked before serving.

Preheat oven 350
Butter glass baking dish, pour melted butter over bread and toss to coat. Add choc chips and to toss to combine. Pour into prepared dish.

Whisk half & half, sugar, eggs, egg yolks, vanilla and salt in bowl to blend. pour over bread cubes.

Let stand 30 minutes pressing bread into custard.

Drizzel 3 tbs melted butter over pudding, sprinkle with borwn sugar.

Bake until puffed, brown and set in center, about 1 hour.
