Fig Cookies

Ingredients
- FILLING:
- 3 c crisco
- 4 c sugar
- 8 eggs
- 8 T evaporated milk
- 4 tsp vanilla
- 2 tsp almond extract
- 10 c flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 lb dried figs (cut stems off before chopping)
- 2 lb raisins
- 1 lb dates
- 1/2 lb walnuts
- 1 lemon zest
- 1 orange zest
- 1 c honey
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- pinch nutmeg
- 1/4 c rum

Step 1
Prepare the filling mixture. Chop all the dried fruits in the Cuisinart and add the spices and rum. Mix well. Add enough water to soften.
Cream the dough ingredients and add 10 cups flour and baking soda. You can make this the night before and refrigerate. Roll pastry and fill with the fruit mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes, till golden.
