  • 1 c (6oz) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 c flaked coconut
  • 1/2 c finely chopped walnuts
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1/3 c sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Melt chocolate in large heavy saucepan over low heat. Let cool to room temperature. Stir in coconut and walnuts.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Beat egg whites and salt in a small bowl at high speed of an electric beater until foamy. Gradually add sugar, 1 T at a time , beating until stiff peaks form and sugar dissolves (2 to 4 minutes). Fold egg white mixture into chocolate mixture. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto cookie sheets lined with aluminum foil. Bake 10 minutes. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; transfer cookies to wire racks to cool completely.
