Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed solid)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 cups flour (I have used whole wheat flour before, doesn't taste AS good but they are still tasty)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 ounces *or more if you like* of chocolate bars, broken in to pieces (I use Hershey)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (if you don't like pecans, almonds are also tasty)

Preparation

Step 1

Mix butter and sugar until creamy. Add egg yolk & vanilla and beat until well blended. Sift dry ingredients together and stir in to sugar mixture. Dough will be stiff. Spread in to a 10x15" pan or cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes.

Remove from oven and sprinkle with broken chocolate pieces. As it melts, spread evenly. Sprinkle with nuts - cool COMPLETELY then cut in to squares.
